We planned a getaway.
Something to celebrate the end of the school year, as well as tide us over until our vacation later this summer.
The beach it was.
The East Coast is loaded with great beaches, but we prefer Virginia Beach, which is a three hour drive from Jenworld.
We arrived and then we didn’t leave for two days, except for a couple of short jaunts to hunt and gather food.
On a whim, Pete picked up a little something for the girls, which turned out to be The Greatest Thing Ever.
A big inflatable donut. Who would have guessed its popularity?
Gingy enjoyed the donut too.
The weather was a bit changeable during our 48 hour getaway. We had a lot of sun, interspersed with periods of not sun.
We came home yesterday, relaxed and happy.
And, this little jaunt definitely counts as one of our 12 family adventures for 2013.
What have you been up to lately?
Um . . . we’ve been to Madison?
That is a fabulous floaty. I envy you guys, living so close to great beaches. Lake Michigan has some very nice beaches, but the best ones are across the lake, in Michigan.
hee hee… I LOVE photo bombers whether intentional or not. They sometimes add a lot of fun to a photo.
So beautiful, the eastern coast!
We have been visiting colleges. I want to go to the beach!
Fun! Now I want a donut, too… where did you buy it?
By my own admission (saying yes to the 17yo), our home was invaded this afternoon by teenagers freshly released from school for summer. They are actually polite and rather pleasant to have around, but it is definitely noiser here with 6 additional teenagers (3 of them are girls). My own children are incredibly quiet on their own and I forget this on a regular basis… until other teens are around.
That is LOVELY beach. For all of you-even Gingy. Been adjusting to summertime here.
My mom is taking Toby and me and my 21 year old brother to Bryce Canyon next week. Just for two days, but it’s kind of a re-getting to know you thing because Tony has been on a mission in Paraguay for two years and now he’s an entirely different person. I’m pretty excited to get to know Tony as the young man he is now rather than the spoiled boy he was when he left 2 years ago. Party!
I have not been up to much lately but next week Ernest and I are going east, for Ernest’s girlfriend’s graduation and then a week of touring colleges.
Just getting ready for our vow renewal…writing those things is harder than you’d think
Not much happening around here but your photos make me want to plan a trip to the beach very soon!
Awe.Some.
You know me - off in the cellular/wifi black hole of Yellowstone. Saw 3 grizzlies, uncountable elk, couple coyotes, and a whole bunch’a bison. Also a hunting fox. Bald eagles. Pelicans. Birds galore really. Watched Old Faithful erupt 4 or 5 times (lost track). And I worked like mad. It was most excellent, but I am glad to be home.
(For fun facts: it was nearly 90 on Monday. Drove through snow showers in the same location on Friday.)
