First of all, I am thinking about the rain, which I am happy about. I’ve been planting, planting, planting in recent weeks and I’m delighted that Mother Nature is watering my plants for me.

We’ve had a busy week here at Jen on the Edge and I thought I’d welcome the weekend on a lighter note.

Tina Fey published her book Bossypants last year. Included within the many funny pages was “A Mother’s Prayer for her Daughter.” In honor of Mother’s Day this weekend, I reprint it here.

Various news outlets have reported the “news” that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton recently spoke at a press conference and did not go into it with professionally-styled hair, was wearing glasses instead of contact lenses, and had on no make-up, save a touch of lipstick.

A child is born

September 4, 2000, just hours old. That particular L&D could not have been any more real, even though drugs were involved.

I have noticed in recent years that more and more pregnant women are choosing to go through labor and delivery totally drug-free. No epidurals, nothing. I don’t know if this is a rising trend, but I’m certainly hearing more about it.

Naturally, this is one of those topics that people have opinions about and feel free to share that opinion, whether asked for it or not. I’m going to share mine.
