WOW! I use the same tube of mascara for six months - at least - no joke and that costs me about $10

And I've never even thot about using some lash growing/revitalizing anything. Besides I hate those ads that say their product will discolor your eyes...like what? You've gotta be kidding me. I want my eyes the color that God gave me - and I'll keep my lashes the way they are too.

Let me start with a disclaimer: I don't look like a Kardashian or anything, but I have really nice, long eyelashes. A former coworker told me she thought that I wore false eyelashes all the time. (I give my DNA all the credit, since my dad has lashes we as kids referred to as "cow eyelashes." Think about it - cows have FABULOUS lashes!)

That said, there is no way I would ever put chemicals on my eyelids in the hopes of growing longer lashes. Sounds like it's basically Rogaine for eyelashes and I'd bet a fair amount of money (ok, a buck) that Rogaine cautions against getting the product in or near the eyes. And the fact that Latisse (the one promoted on tv by Claire Danes and Brooke Shields) says that it may change one's eye color is extremely disconcerting. If it can change the color of my irises in addition to making my eyelash follicles go crazy, what the hell else can it do??

On the other hand, I yearn to have Lasik surgery. I am extremely nearsighted and have worn glasses since second grade. Waking up in the morning and being able to SEE is my absolute, hands-down #1 dream. Somehow a laser knife applied to my eyeball is ok while chemicals applied to the lid are not.

I use the purple Cover Girl mascara - Lash Fusion or something like that. Love it, except it seems to dry up pretty quickly, but at about $7/tube, it's not a hardship to replace it frequently.

Really, anything chemical that close to my eyes makes me nervous. I'll go for fake lashes before I spring for 150 mascara!

I hate the ads and existence of that stuff, it scares me. I'm a Maybelline Great Lash girl...i've tried other mascaras, but I always go back to the pink and green tube!

I am always on the look out for mascara that highlights my lashes without making me feel like a hussy. I'm with you - I'm gonna draw the line at the potion. But I appreciate the recommendation for your current fav mascara - thanks!

I acquired some prescription lash-growing potion from a relative who raved about it but I found it a (rather predictable) disappointment. Regular use according to the instructions failed to result in any change at all to my once-lush-now-sparse lashes or brows. Unfortunately, almost every cosmetic product is mostly hype, but if you find a product you love, the cost-per-use seldom makes a difference to the bottom line. If that lash-fertilizer had actually worked, I'd probably pony up some grocery money to buy more.

Once upon time I worked for the doc who started the DermStore, and their internet operation is still based in my town. He's kind of a pill, by the way.

I can't watch anyone put in contact lenses and I barely managed to put in medicated eye drops that one time the small fry gave me pink eye, so NOTHING is coming near my eyes... which means that I am stuck with the no make-up look for as long as I feel that way.

When I read that it causes your eyes to turn brown (iris color) I knew it was serious stuff. And that it was marketed first as a prescription for some other condition (can't remember what, don't care to google it) and as it's "side effect" was to grow longer lashes, OF COURSE the heee-haws that care about this stuff jumped right on it. No matter that it was FIRST a prescription rx for something else....all in the name of beauty! Yeah,, right. I'm skeptical as fock about this type of stuff. Maybe because if it ain't broke, yada yada. I have a friend, same age, who found the comparable stuff at Costco. She was all for it, and when I voiced my opinion, she shot me down asap. I just can't see messing with the eyes for any reason. Side effects won't be known for some time, I'm sure. FWIW--I also feel this exact same way about Lasix, and it's comparable treatments for fixing nearsightedness. Ain't ever gonna happen. Glasses work just fine, and probably won't affect my long term vision in the negatory. Heh.

*gasp* You can't remember Brooke Shields? What child of the 80s are you?!? : ) (Or wait...did they replace her with someone younger of whom you speak?)

And no - that stuff will never find it's way within a mile of my eyeballs. Of course mascara is also not my bag. Did do the annual application of false eyelashes for the dance recital last weekend. Ought to do that more often when I want big looks.

I'm happy with the Maybelline(R) "The Falsies Volum' Express(R) Flared Waterproof (of course). Thanks though. $6, tax included at Target. When I need bigger, I'll use actual false eyelashes. Usually for ballroom stuff.
