I know, I know, I just posted a list a month ago, but here it is the end of February and I have a whole new list of faves to share with you. I swear, the world is full of lovely and wonderful and great and useful and delicious things.
- Clinique Chubby Stick Color Lip Balm – I had read multiple rave reviews of these and was curious to give them a try. I found them on Amazon for a little less than full price and tossed one in my shopping cart. Now I understand the hype. I am a fan. My one complaint is that you have to be careful because the tip breaks off easily. That wouldn’t be a big deal, except that there’s very little actual product in the tube, so I really don’t want to lose or waste any.
- A mini Sharpie in my purse – What? You don’t find yourself needing a Sharpie while you’re out and about? I do and I’m happy to have one handy.
- Dark chocolate covered soybeans from Whole Foods – Salty + sweet, one of my favorite combos. Plus, I’m getting the health benefits of dark chocolate and soy. Double win.
- My custom breakfast blend – Autumn Wheat cereal, a sprinkle of Chocolate O’s, whatever fruit I have on hand (pomegranate seeds RULE), and a teaspoon of chia seeds. It takes great and there’s enough protein in there to fill me up so that I’m not ravenous two hours before lunch.
- Yoga socks – They’re like gloves for feet, which makes putting them on and getting my toes lined up in the proper places a bit of a challenge. But the grips on the soles keep me from slipping around and now my feet don’t get icy cold while I’m getting my ommmmm on. (Important lesson: Do not put lotion on your feet before doing yoga. You will slip and slide around. I had to make that mistake TWICE before I actually learned my lesson. I damn near slipped out of Downward Dog and probably would have broken my fool head.)
What are your faves these days?

`
Skinfix cream. I scalded my arm with kettle steam (note to self: do not stretch over kettle to get teabags when kettle is boiling. Idiot.) and turned to this cream to treat the burn. We bought it in Canada a couple of years ago to treat combination rash from over-exposure to surf and a little sunburn and it is wonderful. It fixes anything wrong with skin. Seriously. Just about anything. I am such a fan that I have had to contact the little company that makes it to get them to ship some specially to me as they only sell in Canada and the US.
After feeling cold almost all the time for months, last week I picked up a big chunky cable knit sweater in charcoal grey at Joe Fresh that had been marked down to $9. It was so cozy and comfy and cute that I went back and bought it in cream too. I’m pretty much just going to alternate the two every day from now until April.
I’m having trouble coming up with favorite things. A latte in the morning. Good leftovers that only need warming up. Dinner with just Rob on Mondays. Funny things Emma says when she’s in a good mood.
Really, this Feb has crushed me. I have no creative energy and I’m not even comfortable enough to curl up on the couch and read a book.
Thank goodness March starts tomorrow –it has to be better.
Sorry for raining all over your positive post.
May is coming… May is coming…
I’m so sorry you are hurting so badly.
All I can think of right now is my favorite soap – Lemon Verbena olive oil soap by Pre de Provence
Love love love the scent of it in my bathroom!
Oh, yum! I bought soap just like that from the farmer’s market in our town in NoVA. I might have to order some.
Oh I LOVE my Adidas running socks. I took a peek at your yoga socks. Not so sure about those. It takes extra time to wiggle my piggles inside those kinds of socks ;D
At the risk of inciting the wrath of anyone who lives where the weather is awful, I am enjoying the blooming trees (mostly fruit trees, but it looks like a lot of others are at the party, too) and my bank of cascading rosemary totally covered with crinkly lavender flowers and alive with happy bees. Hang in there, ladies! Spring will be there as soon as it can shovel out its driveway.
I love my mechanic. I love my accountant. And I also LOVE those Chubby Sticks! I seldom feel comfortable with anything on my lips (except balm) but Chubby Sticks get a round of applause.
1) Yoga pants. Seriously. I don’t even care how they look anymore, I am in love with them. I just wish they all had a place for my cell phone (only 2 of mine have pockets). No doubt someone will be staging an intervention if capri season doesn’t get here soon.
2) A dab of coconut oil in my first coffee of the day (my husband calls it “Hawaiian coffee”) keeps me from pouring in the half-n-half, plus it’s healthier: win-win. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt to dream of being in the tropics on a cold February day!
…speaking of cold…
3) Ice: it has been the only thing that dulls the pain in my toe. At 3 months post-surgery, I’m over having constant pain in my foot… but it isn’t done with me.
I’ll be up your way this weekend: I am attending the suffrage-centennial in D.C. with the city-girl. Are you going with your girls???
Well, I learned the hard way about putting lotion on my HANDS!
Lately I’m a fan of Elizabeth Jane Howard and Jess Riley;)
For February:
1) Downton Abby.
2) New adventures.
3) A great chai latte.
4) My kids when they’re in a good (cuddly) mood.
5) Completing my collection of vintage posters for our properties.
Dagnabit lady. Why didn’t you post that Clinique lip balm during bonus days?!?!
6) My tap class.
Clinique free gift event coming March 10 at a Dillards near you!
