The Photo Project

Hello, my friends. It’s Friday and, as promised, today is the Photo Project round up — links to posts in which y’all share photos of your gorgeous selves and we all leave comments telling you just how fabulous you are.

(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, please see the post that started it all.)

Here are the people whose photo posts are already up:

This list will be updated as I find out about more participants.

And here is a photo of my friend Sindi, who does not have a blog:

Doesn’t everyone look wonderful!

Okay, here are my photos:

(Contrary to the photographic evidence presented herein, I have actually gotten much better about not wearing so much black all the time.)

But if we’re going to be honest here today, then you need to see photos in which I am not primped and posed.

This one is me after a sweaty run and I’m not hiding my thighs under a running skirt:

And here I am post-shower with wet hair and not a scrap of makeup:

I’m finding it easier to post photos of myself here, but I also have to admit candidly that when I was taking the photos of myself apres shower, I discarded about a dozen that I hated. And then I had a small pity party in which I dumped on myself for all sorts of ridiculous reasons. And then I finally womanned up and planned my next run and felt awesome that I can even do such a thing and thus stopped worrying about how I look.

I hope that everyone who took photos of themselves for this project enjoyed the process. And I hope that everyone who did not participate will consider doing so in the future.

Hugs and cute shoes. – Jen

Final call for entries for the Whipped, Not Beaten giveaway. The contest closes tonight at 9 p.m. EST.

Jen, you look great! All that running is really working for you!!! :)

  2. You’re pictures are awesome – just like you. I love Sindi’s – she looks happy and carefree. Smiles are the very best beautifiers! (I’ve posted mine.)

I can’t figure out how to comment on your post, so hopefully you’ll check back & see this.

The one of you Xmas morning is my favorite, you look so relaxed & happy.

  3. Caite says:

No makeup!? You brave and beautiful lady!

  4. There are no holiday photos of me. I sent a family photo in Christmas cards to relatives and my Mom got a slew of phone calls. Everyone wanted to know if I was OK because I look so “haggard” “sick” “exhausted” “sad”. I don’t want future generations to have all that evidence of how miserable I looked.

You know what I noticed first about your post-shower photo? Your smile.

You are fab, my darling, apres shower and all. And Sindi looks great, and happy. Working on my post right now. Always late to the party, that’s me. :)

  6. Dang, you are stylish. And I love your smile. And your hair is so cute.

  7. Smalltown Me says:

Fantastic! And my post is up now.

  8. Jenn3128 says:

I love this! Is Sindi going to let us in on the joke? Something is obviously funny!

Jen, you look amazing! I love you all dolled up, but love you after the shower just as much!

    My post is now up.

  9. Cassi Renee says:

My favorite photo of you is the one where you’re running –you look so happy and strong. How amazing to be doing that so soon after knee surgery, and how fabulous that you got right back into it.

  10. Sindi says:

Thanks for all the compliments! The joke was that my umbrella had just turned itself inside out, the handle had snapped, and the umbrella had gone flying down the street. A stranger caught it and returned it to me. Here I am feeling silly holding my umbrella by what’s left of its handle trying to decide whether I should keep using it or throw it out. My daughter, who took the photo, has a great eye for this kind of thing and managed to capture the joy.

This is such a great idea–and I have to tell you, the fresh-out-of-the-shower photo is my favorite. You are undeniably appealing. (thanks to Green Girl for clueing me into this project and to you specifically!)

  12. love the photo project! not dumping on myself is one of my “resolutions” (i.e., goals) for this year. i’m terrible about negative self-talk. i see it as fact; other see it as just being negative about myself. well, when you don’t have much in the way of self-confidence, it’s easy to find the negative facts about yourself and much harder to find positive. my goal is to change that.

  13. The pic of you that I like the best is the one with a towel on your head and a smile on your face. :)
And I love that one of Sindi — her happiness is contagious!

Thanks for calling attention to the fact that we tend to hide behind the camera instead of willingly become the subjects in photos. I’m trying to change that in my own life (I won’t be giving up full control of the camera any time soon… just handing it over more often).

I was so busy clicking on to other’s photos, I forgot to comment on yours. Like many others who commented, my favorite photo is the one just out of the shower, although you do look fab all dressed up, too. And I love Sindi’s picture, too — that smile, how beautiful! Thanks so much for issuing us all this challenge. It looks to me like it has been a smashing success and reminded us all . . . well, you know. :)

  15. Vanessa says:

I think you are gorgeous in all those photos and I especially love the one with the black dress (outift) and black boots. Is it too late for me to take part? If so, I simply submit my profile picture. (but really, let me know if I can still participate!)

  17. Hey! We west coast ladies need more time to get up and on. Great photos – that running is doing you great favors!

  18. This is wonderful–and the shower photo is beautiful.

I had fully intended to participate in this…but life seems to have intervened. Mayhap tomorrow…

But you and Sindi look awe.some.

  20. What a truly beautiful group! i wish I had time to comment personally to each of you, but I’m getting on a plane shortly. I read a post this morning that seemed appropriate to this effort and just wanted to share: http://allisonnazarian.com/my-spring-break-self/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+AllisonNazarian+%28AllisonNazarian.com%29
    (sorry for the ugly link)

  21. Patience says:

Sorry for the late response, but I think you look fantastic in your pictures!
