People, today I have some questions for you. These are actual questions on my mind, things that I have been mulling over and for which I need answers.
Burning Jen Question #1: What is the purpose of an iPad? I am serious. Is it to access information? Because then why not just use an iPhone, Blackberry, or other smart phone? Is it to write/blog? Because why not just use a laptop?
Burning Jen Question #2:What is the point of toner in a skin care regimen? Is it for oily skin only or is there some other purpose?
Burning Jen Question #3: Why do people love Kohl’s stores so much? We don’t have one in my town, so I’ve never been, but I just found out yesterday that one is being built near my Tar-zhay of choice, which means I potentially have access to something amazing or it’s merely a building I should ignore. (Nice run-on sentence there Jen.) So should I care that I will have access to a Kohl’s or not?
Burning Jen Question #4: I’m going to BlogHer in August. Should I go to the evening parties or not? I’m not really feeling it, but could be persuaded that this is something I should do. My preference would be to meet up with my blogging friends and head out to dinner and a more quiet evening.
I think that covers it. Any and all answers and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I say hit the parties for at least a round or two. as for the Ipad, I’m not convinced its Gods gift to the world although the hubs is dying for one. now. dang it!!!
I am totally no help at all. My answers are:
1) I dunno.
2) I dunno.
3) Never heard of that store.
4) I dunno. Go with your intuition when you’re there.
I will, however, answer as many questions about MS Paint or NHL hockey as you care to pose.
1. Eye Candy
2. To make you spend money.
3. I only know of a Kohl pencil. Or is that Khol pencil? Anyway, it is part of my make up routine.
4. Go. Life is short. Have fun. An excuse to buy more clothes.
1 – can’t help you there – I have a Blackberry and don’t like it. Can’t wait for August when I am due for a phone “upgrade”.
2 – a toner is actually designed to bring your skin back to the proper ph after you wash it so it is better prepared to accept the moisture you’re trying to give it with the moisturizer. I love my toner.
3 – Kohl’s is great! You should at least give it a try. Their clothes and shoes are very reasonably priced. They are constantly giving “rewards” where the more money you spend there, the more they “give” you to spend on a future visit. I know, maybe that’s a bit of a scam.
4 – I’m a hermit, so probably not helpful there. I’d definitely be the type to meet up with a few friends and go out and have a quiet dinner.
We love Kohl’s. They have name brands and also their own brands. Most of my work clothes come from there.
Last time we hit a 60% off sale and got $250 of stuff for $54.
If you use skin toner right after you cleanse, it closes the pores and seals in the moisture from washing your face.
1. To drool over and feel all superior about how cool you are. Otherwise, not much point, although that doesn’t stop me from wanting on very badly.
2. To make your face feel as though it has been run through some kind of chemical threshing machine, designed to remove all traces of moisture that ever landed on your face.
3. Stick with Tar-zhay. I’ve been in Kohl’s exactly twice and neither time impressed me all that much.
4. Pick one party that sounds like the most fun and for the other nights, go for the nice dinners with your blogger friends. Have an extra glass of wine for me, since BlogHer will be taking place mere minutes from my house, but I’ll be on another continent at the time.
1. No purpose other than to be supremely cool.
2. Toner dries out my skin. Plus it’s one more thing to remember, so I don’t use it.
3. I will go into Kohl’s, but generally under duress. It makes me crazy that item X can be purchased for a different price every day of the week depending on sales, power hours, Kohl’s cash and whether you have a credit card. Enough is enough.
4. I’m not a big party- goer, but if I knew you were going to be there, I would go
1. I hate apple so I wouldn’t know. But I do know it’s overpriced – whatever it’s for.
2. I don’t have any idea. Perhaps another way to suck your money from you.
3. We get coupons for Kohl – like 25% off everything – even sale stuff. And all their stuff is always on sale. So I get a lot of clothes from them. And their stuff tends to go to clearance before it goes out of style/season – and who doesn’t like a clearance bargain. Plus the % off coupons apply to clearance too so double savings.
4. I’m with you on the not feeling it. But maybe that’s cause I’m not going. You should perhaps try at least one – that’s what my mom would say.
1. I think it’s kind of a laptop alternative. A laptop with a certain type of interface. If you don’t mind a long story… we have one computer in our home, and it is dying. We spent the weekend deciding whether to replace it with a laptop or a PC. We decided that we need to get a PC so we can have memory and power and a nice monitor (pictures and video are the main function of our computing), AND a netbook or iPhone for browsing the internet while slumming on the couch. We couldn’t get both functions from one machine.
2. I know nothing about beauty products.
3. Kohl’s is similar to the apparel sections of Target. I check in there about once a year, if Target doesn’t have anything and I am really in need of something.
4. If I were going to BlogHer, I think the parties would be my favorite part.
Sorry, that should read “a netbook or iPad…”
I already have an iPhone, which I love for when I am out and about, but I wouldn’t want to use it for internet and stuff at home, it’s too small.
I have been to both Target and Kohl’s. Kohl’s is not all that. You can’t get underwear for under $4 a pair there and that’s just not right.
1. It’s a gimmick. BUT if you’re an e-book fan I think it offers a number of advantages over the other versions (kindle, sony’s, etc). I keep looking at them – but I don’t care for the size. I already haul a laptop when I travel. Plus they don’t make you “turn off” a real book for take off/landing.
2.Only toner I ever used was a Burt’s Bees one. It helped with my rosacea flare ups. But I have no idea why. And I can’t find it any more.
3. Kohls rocks. And has some higher end stuff than Target. But never buy anything full price there. I suspect those who truly love it are the bargain hunter types. It’s similar in offering to my Target – but at least 3x’s larger in apparel offerings. And I usually get my undies there for about $1-$2 a piece. Cheaper than Tar-zhay by far. And they seem to last longer. (Plus they offer a bajillion different brands/styles of bras. If you can’t find something you like, you just didn’t look long enough. The kids clothing is also purdy awesome.)
4. I with Missy – pick one or two you’d like then spend the other nights doing the small thing.
You totally need to go to Kohl’s! And to the parties! Why go to BlogHer if you aren’t going to socialize?
IPad – the Ereader is great, the page-turning is much superior to Kindle and Nook. But you can get the same E reader on the IPhone (just smaller). Also, photos on the IPad are just incredible. I still think I would prefer the IPhone (if I could afford it); but it is fairly expensive per month (as opposed to the 15 dollars/month for the 3G connection for the IPad – and no contracts!). But there’s something so cool about having your entire life on one phone.
We don’t do Apple products, but the reader is supposed to be good and it is smaller and more lightweight than a laptop.
Toner is a good thing, but not a necessary thing for good skin care.
Kohls is great for clothing for all members of the family – your girls will love it. Much bigger selection than Target.
I say mix it up and socialize each night. That’s the point of being there!
1. It’s pretty.
2. Total scam by makeup companies to make you spend more money.
3. Overrated except for their shoe department.
4. Dunno. I get anxious about making small talk and excel at coming up with reasons to skip parties where I don’t know many people , so I’m probably the wrong person to ask here.
I want an iPad, but I confess to being able to do the same things with my iTouch.
Toner is only for very oily skin… it can actually be quite harsh and strip (aging) skin of much needed moisture.
Kohls? Don’t know.
Blogher. If I were going I’d totally opt for dinners out and maybe a drink with the chaos… but, I’ll be in Hawaii and therefore out of the loop!
1. I don’t get it either
2. Not so much on the toner. It dries out my skin.
3. Kohl’s-love their towels and they have great sales on the bras I like, friends of mine love the place but I don’t get it.
4. I don’t know but maybe a party or two is not bad? Maybe there is free wine?
Jen, I’m so tired, mentally, I wish I could offer some pithy answers, because I have some in my brain, but have the lack of will to type them out. I love your questions, and maybe, after this current stressful time passes, I will be back in the game. . . Okay, can’t pass this one up, go to ONE party, and then do the other thing you wish to do. Two birds and all.
Kohl’s is HUGE around here–but in my view it’s no different than Younker’s or JC Penney’s or Sears.
I don’t use toner anymore–it does dry the skin.
My husband sells PCs so the only I-anything we own are ipod shuffles.
I say go out with blogging friends because the local ones will know some great places to take you
I love Kohl’s! They have some cute clothes and great sale prices. I recommend getting a Kohl’s card ~ they frequently send coupons for 10~30% off (even clearance) and that saves us lots of money.
I use toner but I have oily~ish skin.
Kohl’s is a gift from the gods.
Hubs has won not one, but TWO iPads at seminars in the last week. He gave one to his second-in-command at work. I just want him to win me a Kindle.
The parties? Meh. Very crowded and noisy. Sparklecorn was fun last year, they had a good dj. Mostly it’s fun to hang around the edges and people-watch.
