Pirates!

Ahoy mateys!  Thar be a pirate ship in Jenworld:

Be there any pirates on the ship? Aye!

One…

Two…

And three…

Three bucaneers who be answerin’ to no man or blasted gov’ment!

Be there also treasure on this here pirate ship?  Aye!

Avast!  No fightin’ for the doubloons, ya scurvy dogs!

Thar’ll be a keelhaulin’, you bilge rats.

King o’ th’ world, be me!

(That’s a “Titanic” reference…)

So why be thar a pirate ship in Jenworld?  Because Aunt Jen likes to shower gifts liberally on her 1 niece and 5 nephews.  One o’ th’ wee nephews (not The Boy) is goin’ to be a big brother next month and Aunt Jen thinks it’s important to give older siblings somethin’ they can play with by themselves while the parents are busy with the newborn.  Plus, Aunt Jen just wanted an excuse to play with this cool toy, which she has done far more than she’ll admit.

No, Jen has no idea why she’s referring to herself in the third person.

It’s a snow day here in Jenworld, due to the 10″ of fluffy white stuff we got on Saturday.  Luckily, on Friday, I rolled through Whole Foods like Sherman’s march through Georgia and we had plenty of supplies to get us through even a 10 day blizzard.

Happy Monday!

  1. This is such a bizarre year! We haven’t even had enough snow to go toboganning! Not that I’M complaining, but the Princess is.

That’s a lucky nephew, Bad would love that ship. But I’m not buying him any presents – he wouldn’t let me help build a pyramid out of lego this weekend, because, “NO Mommy. You have to be CLEVER to build a pyramid!”

I’m offended, but also kind of proud. That’s the child whose speech I was worried about?

That pirate ship is adorable!! My mom (and now I) have always done the same thing when we know someone having a baby — we always get the older sibling(s) a small gift, too, so they don’t feel left out.

I can’t believe how much snow you have gotten! We’ve only had enough to be able to go out once to play in it, which is weird for the area I live in.

We have a playmobil pirate ship. We still play with it. Pirates rock. And so do you, Aunt Jen!

  4. Jen says:

    Very cool pirate ship.

And I prefer to be Aunty Jen rather than Aunt Jen, for the simple reason that I sound like the antidote to anything that way – Aunty Jen = antigen. Therefore I must be the source of all the coolest nephew-related fun…and indeed I am, as the coolest toy my nephew has is his two cousins and I am their source.

Yeah! I’m glad someone else uses Sherman has a pop reference. That is a good idea about making the older kids feel appreciated. Congrats on the family addition.

  6. That Pirate Ship ROCKS! So does Aunt Jen!

  7. That is too darn cute. Now you need to change your Facebook to speak in Pirate (you knew you could do that, right?)

What an adorable ship! As a mom of two girls, I understand the lure of “boy toys”. I used to buy a fair number of them for the girls until I realized that they completely ignored them in favor of the pink and the sparkly. Sigh.

  9. Another snow day??
Boys and pirates…wonderful gift idea. My son still loves pirates at 22! What a great aunt!

  10. So cute. My youngest great-nephew calls me “aunty” too. I love it.

Arrr! You be a beauty to be spoilin’ the rascals! Don’t forget to pass on September 19 – Talk Like A Pirate Day. : )

Another snow day? You’re getting spoiled. All we’re getting is the chills around here. I’d love a good heavy fun snow. Not this -too much and squeaky snow if you’re lucky. Squeaky snow does not a good snowball (or snowman) make.

  12. paperdiva says:

What a cute toy! He will love it, for sure.
I just can’t get over how much snow you’ve gotten, while we get none. Just bizarre.

  13. melissawest says:

Gargh, Matey! That’s a fine looking ship indeed.

  14. Fannie says:

Adorable! We got off lightly – only two inches here and it mostly melted yesterday!

  15. thedomesticfringe says:

That’s one cute pirate ship! You’re a good aunt.

You are the coolest Aunt EVER!!!
