You know how some bloggers are doing retrospectives of the past decade and where they were 10 years ago? Well, I guess I should jump on the bandwagon too.
Thus, here’s a very brief state of Jenworld a decade ago:
- 10 years ago, we had just moved into a cute house that needed a crap-ton of renovations.
- 10 years ago, we had a 15 month old toddler and another child on the way.
- 10 years ago, I had never heard of blogs. (Had they even been invented yet?)
Is that an adequate re-cap? Good. Moving right along…
THREE years ago, however, that’s what I want to talk about today. Because three years ago this month, I started this blog.
[I'm not sure of the date because I've since deleted some less-than-stellar posts.]
To celebrate Jen on the Edge becoming a toddler, I’m having a giveaway this week. Feast your eyes on these:
Scarf 1:
100% cotton, rib-knit in fun colors
Scarf 2:
an icy-blue boucle yarn knitted on great big needles
Scarf 3:
magenta yarn knitted from silk sari remnants
All you have to do is leave a comment telling me which scarf/scarves make your heart go pitterpat. One comment per person, please. This giveaway is open to all folks, all over the world. Comments close Friday night at 11:59 p.m. EST. I’ll hold a random drawing on Saturday and email the winners over the weekend.
Good luck!
Updated January 9. The comments are now closed. Thanks to all who participated.
Pitter Pat Pitter Pat,
Number Three
Rat a Tat Tat
I like ‘em all but the rib-knit is my fav
I am not entering because I have a wife scarf. Just wanted to let you know I am loving your work.
Loving #2 because it is blue and reminds me of the mountains at dawn.
Ooh, the third one looks gorgeous!
love the scarves. Especially the blue one.
I think my New Year’s Resolution needs to be knit on bigger needles. Working on some thing on size 9 and it’s going to take FOREVER.
Number 1! (though they are all very pretty)
All of those scarves are beautiful!! I think I’ll go with number two since blue is my favorite color
Number 1 is fab!
(Did you make them yourself?)
Like Jen, I am not entering myself as I already have a lovely Jen-knit scarf. Those ones are gorgeous too. Congrats on your toddler blog.
You got me thinking: 10 years ago I had been married for 4 months and about to give birth to Leah. I was living in an apartment by the airport in Ottawa. How things change.
Welcome back! Hope your vacation was stellar and Santa treated you all well.
I love #3… but #2 is close behind. One of these days I’m going to learn how to knit. Or crochet. Or both!
10 years ago I was living in St. Louis working for an international engineering firm. I’d meet my hubby in 2 months time (on leap day!). Crazy how quickly life changes.
Nice scarves Ms. Jen! Glad to see you put all your vacation time to good use:)
please don’t enter me-I can’t pick a favorite and you can’t make me.
10 years ago I had a toddler and a new baby. I was in my early thirties. Now look forward 10 years. That’s even scarier!
I’m not in the market for a scarf, but I DO have to tell you I wore the Lori Anderson earrings I won from you a couple years ago to Christmas in Iowa and they looked FAB! So again, thanks!
OOOH! Beautiful – did you make them? I’m completely torn between #1 and #3, but I think I like #3 a teensy bit more.
Happy blog anniversary month!
Indecision . . . I love all three, but if I had to pick, it’d be #1. I went on a real scarf kick this season, don’t know why, but when I saw CASHMERE scarves at Costco for 50 bucks, I knew I’d not be coming up for air until about, oh, now. I’m up 5 new scarves this year, and I wear them all. And all of them? Are thinner, because unlike my oh so bodacious bod, I’m running hotter w/ the perimenopause, and can’t take the thicker yarn based ones from years past. Even though I still love them, and take them down off the shelf and look at them with longing . . .
So, yeah. I’d love any of them, but maybe I’ll love them from afar, cause I don’t seem to win much these days.
My youngest son is taking a Home Ec class this year (because he heard it was FUN) and their first project was to knit a scarf! I bought only one skein of yarn (because there were NO directions from the teacher, and I’ve never knitted anything!) So, when son brought home his finished project? it was 1/2 a scarf long! And I could not find the same yarn at the craft store, so there it sits. Boo-hoo!
The number three magenta one floats my boat! Happy blog-i-versary Jen!!
I am feeling much love for the blue boucle. And also? Happy blogiversary. God, I hate it when people say that!
Also, I am the lamest of the lame and never did my Holiday Home Tour post or photos. Also? Never took any Holiday Home Tour photos. Sucks, who?
I love the magenta Sari scarf! It’s gorgeous!
I love them all but #2 is my fav.
Congrats on 3 years of blogging!
Which ONE? They are all gorgeous although I do love the pretty striped scarf and think it would look awesome wrapped around my neck!
I like them all, but my favorite is 1 and then 2.
Ten years ago I was in eighth grade and thinking I knew everything. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.
And also, HA.
The magenta is beautiful and would set off my silver-streaked dark brown hair and wine-ruddy cheeks quite nicely!
I’m not a scarf wearer, just wanted to say you did a fabulous job on the striped one!
Numbre 3 is just spectacular! It would add a fabulous glimmer of bright to my all, black, all the time, self imposed uniform.
Im a simple gal, I like simple strightforward kinda things-I think that striped scarf is just the ticket!
3 years, oh my goodness; I can’t even imagine!
Congratulations!
Wow, three years already? It must be pretty cool to look back on stuff you posted and say, ah, right that happened!
I just signed up for a knitting class. Never tried it before; hoping teacher goes slow!
All three are fab but scarf 2 and 3 have the edge.
Happy Anniversary!! I would have to say #3 makes my heart skip a beat!!
Scarf #3 does it for me. I didn’t knwo you could knit sari remnants, but it sure is pretty!
I love them all, but the first one totally matches a pair of gloves I already own. I can just see it, popping against my plain gray coat.
All three of them are beautiful, but I most love the idea that you were able to use up the silk remnants for the third!
Beautiful! I’ve become a scarf addict. I love the first rainbow scarf best though. Maybe because I’ve managed to misplace my beloved rainbow scarf?
3 years, 3 scarves…
All that, and she knits too
You did those during the girls riding lessons? Beautiful work, Jen—
I don’t mean to be sappy on your 3rd blogiversary but I have to say thank you for all the inspiration and laughter you’ve given!
Totally sapped out, didn’t I?
Number 1 is just AWESOME!! Early birthday gift? Maybe? Please, pretty please? (hint, hint. LOL) Seriously, I love them all. Any of them would be fab.
Happy Bloggiversary! That’s so exciting
Mine is coming up here soon too I think, I’ll have to check. I love the color of that blue scarf, very lovely.
Happy New Year Jen!
Happy Blogoversary! I think the third scarf is especially pretty, but they are all awesome.
I wasn’t going to participate because I live in South Florida, and, honestly, how often would I ever wear a scarf? Well, after this week of cold here, I changed my mind. I’M IN!
Any one of the three is lovely
