Sweet! I started teaching Regan how to embroider yesterday, just a straight stitch, it was the first time she’d ever used a needle and she loved it. (She’s coming to the Arts camp I teach at this year, and we’re doing some embroidery, so I wanted to see how a 5 year old would do. Nothing lilke having your own personal guinea pig, but I’d likely never have thought to do it with her otherwise.)
WTG Graceful! That looks very small and intricate.
Last winter, my girls wanted to learn to knit. We bought needles and they chose yarn. We decided on scarves for their teddy bears for simplicity’s sake. Let’s see. Rachel’s is about 2 inches long (most of which was done by me) and I think Leah has 3 rows complete. And a row is maybe 15 stitiches. To say that they lost interest would be an understatement. Every once in a while they ask to work on them, I get them out, the girls struggle through two or three stitches and then they’re done. And the knitting goes away til next time. Sigh.
I love to knit, too. But now that presbyopia is setting in, just looking at her with those (must be) super-tiny stiches makes my eyes hurt.
I swear my first reaction when I saw those candlesticks on the table was: wow, gigantic knitting needles (sculpture?) for inspiration! or maybe the huge and the miniscule!
Ernest knitted two scarves. Long ago. Now he is too busy.
Laura too. WTHeck?
Too Cute!

Aw. In the natural sunlight, too. Nic pic Jen.
awesome! My kids both will pick it up from time to time but the interest never lasts long.
There’s almost nothing that makes me happier than seeing a young girl knit or sew!

Very sweet.
Great job! (And that’s a beautiful picture of her).
I haven’t been successful in getting either of my girls into knitting. Hannah isn’t interested; Kate is, but has zero patience when things go wrong.
Oh I love that about her!!
All the best people knit
Go Graceful. I love her glasses too
How can she do something so SMALL???
I bought a Ritter hazelnut bar Saturday. It was sublime.
Even if I DID knit, which I do NOT, no WAY would I do anything so wee and tiny!
Yeah!
I have just taken up yarn mania…three scarves and half a hat later….I’m hooked on crochet!
