The Orange Emperor Penguins had their second game of the season.
Coach Pete started things off with a last-minute pre-game pep talk:
I don’t know what he said, but the girls played great. They were fast and totally on the ball — literally and figuratively. They have already started to gel as a team and it showed.
One of the players (#9) just returned from a year living in England while her parents were on sabbatical at Oxford. She played soccer while there and I really want to know what the British coaches teach, because #9 is absolutely amazing. Not only is she a superstar, but she’s also unbelievably polite on the field AND she shares the ball. Wow.
Player #3 — a 4th grader who is familiar to readers of this blog — was totally on her game:
No one scored until well in the second half. The Orange team was up, then the Green team tied it up. Finally, near the very end, the Green team kicked toward the goal and the goalie just couldn’t block in time. No matter. There’s always next week.

My grand Rachel plays and just loves it! I
I believe we ram a rod up their backs and tell them to have a stiff upper lip. Or something.
Is that the people you visited when you were over here?
WTG Orange team!
