The movie meme.
The rules:
- Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
- Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.
- Post them here for everyone to guess.
- Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
- NO googling or cheating by doing an online search. Cheaters never prosper.
- Share the fun and only guess one movie.
Just a head’s up, most of these are at least a decade old, some are from the 80s, and one is older than me (pre-1969). Not all are favorites, but in those cases the quotations are spoken regularly here in Jenworld. You’ve been warned.
1. Life goes by pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” — Guider
2. As you wish. “The Princess Bride” — The Guider, Caroline, Daysgoby, and Suzanne.
3. An unhappy alternative lies before you. Your mother will never see you again if you do *not* marry Mr Collins, and *I* will never see you again if you *do*. “Pride and Prejudice” (both versions) — Suzanne
4. We can stay up late, swapping manly stories, and in the morning, I’m making waffles! “Shrek” — SarahO, Cheri, Suzanne
(That last one is quoted regularly here in Jenworld. Elegant in particular loves it.)
5. I love robbing the English, they’re so polite. “A Fish Called Wanda” — Alison (good job on that one)
6. It looks, after all, as if you will see Berlin before I do. “The Great Escape” — Guider (Kudos! That one was tough.)
7. C’mon, it’s Czechoslovakia. We zip in, we pick ‘em up, we zip right out again. We’re not going to Moscow. It’s Czechoslovakia. It’s like we’re going into *Wisconsin*. “Stripes” — Sally
(Pete, that one’s for you. Just because.)
8. I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” — Elizabeth
9. No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find you. “Last of the Mohicans” — Suzanne (Damn girl, that one was tough.)
(When movie #9 came out and we saw the trailer, we mocked this line mercilessly for months.)
10. I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request. [pause] Means “no”. “Pirates of the Carribean” — Guider
(Yes, we say that one around here too on a regular-ish basis.)
Have fun!
#2 – Princess Bride.
#4 has got to be Shrek. The original, I’m pretty sure.
Oh yeah, sometimes I think of switching to WordPress. Let us know what you think of it!
What does it say that I know and love all of these? I will spill the beans on no. four since it’s a favorite of Elegant and regularly quoted by my Bunnie… MULAN as said by Mushu
SIGH! Once again there is not a single one I know.
1. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
1. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
2. The Princess Bride
3. Pride and Prejudice
4. I know it but can’t remember.
5. Argh. See #4
6. No clue
7. Sounds familiar, but I can’t place it.
8. See #6
9. Last of the Mohicans
10. Can’t remember
Am I first to comment on the new blog? Like the styling. Will look at the films later.
OK, 1 is Ferris Beuller and 2 is Princess Bride. I shan’t be selfish and hog any more!
Oops, I guessed two and one was the maximum. Put me down for Princess Bride and delete the other comment, sorry!
I LOVE 1, 2, and 4, and I *think* I know 9…
For my guess, I’m going with the fabulous and funny The Princess Bride – #2!
8. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
7 is that one with Chevy Chase, right?
They are spies…or army guys…ack.
It looks all clean and new over here…you’d better report back.
Blackbird: About #7, you’re on the right track. I’ll add a hint: Bill Murray.
#7 – Stripes
Well this is going to take some getting used to. What is better *here* than over *there*? It’s too bright white for me this morning in here, lol. And the ones I knew have already been guessed. The Monty Python one is a hoot. We watched that a couple weeks ago with the 4yr old in attendance and at some point he piped in with “This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my life.”
Ooooh, I hope I’m not too late to play. I know #5!!!! That’s Kevin Kline in “A Fish Called Wanda”. I LOVE that movie.
“Don’t eat the green ones. They’re not ripe”,
“Viet Nam was a tie!”
Bwahaha.
I am drawing a blank on #10 and it is driving me NUTS!!
I know I know it, I just can’t place it.
Well if we’re allowed more than one…#10 is Pirates of the Caribbean
ooh, ooh, I know number six too! It’s *** ***** ****** right? I don’t want to bag them all!
Guider: You may be right. Want to spell it out?
The Great Escape?
Oops, I missed the rule about only guessing on one! How rude of me!!
So sorry people!!
Suzanne: No worries. I only included the rule because it’s part of the meme.
What? I’m wrong? I”M WRONG??? Oh, the shame. Still, I do want to know what you think of wordpress as well as I’m yearning for a three column format and have no idea how to do it on blogger. BTW, your address is updated on my reader and blogroll.
i totally missed this and i KNEW at least 4 of them.
i was going to do the same exact thing on my blog tomorrow.
great minds think alike i guess!!
like the new site.

my grandfather used to compound the grief by calling me….wait for it……jennykins
